Why did you become a foster carer and how long have you been fostering?
If you think about children without the family they need long enough – your emotions will get the best of you!
Once your heart is captured there is no turning back!
I have been fostering for 5 and a half years.
What’s been your biggest challenge since you began fostering?
Honestly, the lack of input into the decisions for the children’s lives as they move forward.
What’s your favourite thing about fostering?
When you look into a child’s eyes and you know, at least for a moment that they understand that you love them.
That’s when they know that we are on this journey together, whatever it looks like for them.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a foster carer?
It’s not as complicated as you think! Challenging at times? Of course! But it is amazing how little you need to do at times to make such a big difference. We don’t have all our ducks in a row ourselves – so if we can do it, so many others can too!
